All Natural Arthritis Remedies in Your Kitchen
Excruciating pain can leave a person feeling frustrated and helpless. The usual daily activities that are done effortlessly would now seem like torture. Arthritis doesn’t cause death but the debilitating pain can leave a person crippled. For a cure to be effective, it has to alleviate the pain. Pain relievers however, also come with side effects that could be dangerous.
If you are one of those people who would rather suffer the pain than take pain killers that could have deadly side effects, you have the option of surgery to replace joints or you can make use of alternative treatments. Needless to say a surgery would cost you a lot even with medical insurance. On the other hand, an alternative treatment is a good option. You don’t have to go far to look for herbal treatments as most of these healthy alternatives can be found in your own kitchen.
Centuries ago, spices were widely used for the treatment of swelling and pain attributed to arthritis. But due to the advent of prescription drugs, spices have taken a backseat and relegated to where it really belongs…to the kitchen. However, it would not hurt you more if you try these time tested cure for arthritis.
If your arthritis worsens in cold weather, you might want to try ginger. Ginger is known to increase blood circulation. Drink ginger tea daily by adding a teaspoon of grated ginger to a cup of boiling water. Or you can make a poultice by grating the ginger and placing the preparation on the aching or swollen part of the body. This will reduce the swelling, ease the pain and improve blood circulation.
Cayenne is what you put in your dishes to make it spicy. Cayenne cream is known to block a certain body substance that transmits pain signals when rubbed on the affected area. It is best to use cayenne topically as it can cause nausea if a larger dose is ingested.
Green tea is in these days. Green tea lowers bad cholesterol and improves blood circulation. Green tea is anti-inflammatory and we know that once inflammation subsides, the arthritic pain will also be lessened.
Turmeric in your curry dishes reduces inflammation and stops cartilage destruction. The herb rosemary has phytochemicals and antioxidants that reduce swelling. This is also an effective pain reliever. Add six drops to rosemary essential oil to virgin coconut oil or to almond oil and massage to painful joints.
Saffron is another natural remedy for arthritis. Make a saffron tea by adding half a teaspoon to a cup of boiling water or add a few drops to a teaspoon of almond oil and massage to sore joints. GP
