Fat Burning Foods

Fat is out of fashion in this era. Gone are those days, when fat is considered to be beautiful and strong. This genre is all about fat free zone. One needs to stay fit to meet up with the core challenges, be it professional or personal life, be it dealing with your boss or dealing with your partner! There have been lots of studies done on this subject for the sheer hotness of the topic. One of the biggest subjects has been “Is there any food that one could eat and be able to burn body fat?”

Interesting isn’t it! Well good news. Few recent studies shout aloud that there are foods that could burn fat. So there is no need for those exhaustive crash dieting and vigorous exercising and all that pain. No pain, no gain stands ruled out!

Food stuffs that have the capacity to burn more calories than the number of calories in the food that is consumed itself are called the Fat burning foods. They are also called Negative calorie foods.

To make things even more clear, let’s define the two words Food and Burn. Food is substance consisting of proteins, carbohydrates and fats used by the body to sustain growth, vital and repairing processes and to provide with energy. Burn is to use fuel and produce heat or energy. So basically we can analyze and redefine these 2 processes as the fat stored in the body is used as fuel by the body to produce energy required by the body. So, fat burning foods are nothing but substances that encourage or boost the above described process. Fat burning foods are not specific to one macronutrient.

Sustaining of Growth and repairing process are the two key processes that work in sync with fat burning foods to maximize fat burning. So, by selecting foods carefully would help to achieve the hormonal balance and affect the metabolism, thus increasing the above specified effect. If you look at the complexity of ways in which fat burning foods affect the fat burning process, might result in infinite number of criteria according to which fat burning foods can be divided or classified.

If we really want to classify these fat burning foods, we would have to look at the complete human metabolism and nutrient use and also the perfect hormonal environment for fat cell metabolism. The use of nutrients is to provide building blocks for all parts of the body as there is a constant break down and building up of the cells and supplying energy to all organs and tissues. Hence, fat burning foods would contribute to growth, repair process and also the use of fat as energy. Now, what role does the hormones play in this entire process? For Fat storage and loss, there are two different types of hormones that enhance the process. They are, Lipolytic, which is hormone that assists in fat- releasing and Lipogenic, which is hormone that assists in fat-depositing. So basically, fat burning foods should increase the levels of Lipolytic hormones as well as decrease the levels of Lipogenic hormones.

All plant foods are considered to be Fat burning foods. Vitamin C rich foods like lemons, oranges, limes have fat burning properties. Other fat  burning foods are beet root, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, apple, blue berries, asparagus and watermelon.
